Guided Chakra Meditation

Welcome to this guided chakra meditation! For me when I started out meditating, guided meditations were the easiest because they gave me a clear direction of what I should be thinking about. I'll write a post next week on the methods of an unguided meditation for you to try as well!

If you're unfamiliar with chakras, it first may be helpful to check out this post first. Otherwise, read through the entire post before trying this out on your own. I'd recommend going very slowly through this the first time - try to see if you can make the meditation last 15-20 minutes or longer. You can also go as long as you like! Feel free to post your experience in the comment section below!


Begin in a comfortable seated position with your eyes closed. Imagine yourself as a tiny golden buddha statue - small enough to fit in the palm of your hand. Imagine what you'd look like as that little statue.

Breathe for some time on this thought.

Then imagine your buddha sitting in a tiny glass elevator. Bring that elevator to the crown of your head. Now choose which chakra you'd like to work on healing. You may choose one, multiples or all of them. Begin to lower your buddha's elevator down through the crown of the head, along the spine, into the chakra of your choosing.

When your buddha has reached the chakra, begin to focus again on your breath. Imagine that when you inhale the buddha grows larger and starts to take on whatever feeling/emotion/idea you need to heal the chakra. If it's the root chakra, feel grounding. If it's the solar plexus chakra, feel confidence and honor for yourself. If it's the heart chakra, feel love. Etc.

Breathe for some time on this thought.

Now, slowly start to feel this emotion/idea radiate throughout your entire body. First from your chakra through the rest of your spine. Then out your limbs to your fingertips and toes. Then just beyond your body. Imagine the feeling as a golden light that starts to expand until it takes up the whole room.

Breathe for some time on this thought.

When you feel satisfied, begin to lift your buddha's elevator either to another chakra, or out of your body through the top of your head. Lift the elevator higher so your buddha is floating above the room. Then lift even higher so your buddha is above the building. Higher - above the city. Higher still - above the state. Above the country. Finally, lift your buddha all the way up into space. 

Breathe for some time on this thought.

Continue to feel the healing emotions/ideas even up here in space. If there are any pieces missing from your past that you need to reclaim in order to heal your chakra, call those pieces back to you now until your chakras feel full again.

When you feel fulfilled, begin to slowly lower your buddha back to earth. Back to the country. Back to the state. The city. The building. The room. Your body.
